The Blue And The Gray
11/15/05

In a place dear to my heart
When you listen close
You can hear the ghost
Of soldiers talking of war
Monuments of those
Who fought and died
Volunteers gave all they had
Hand to hand most the time
In the winter and rain
Muskets seldom fired
Late at night I sit
Gazing at stars
Shining like angels
On the river from afar
Images of ghost
Wearing blue and gray uniforms
Seem as real as the crackling
Flames of fire
Now jumping and telling the tale
Creeping into the mind
Grabbing the soul
Carrying it into a battle
Just over the shoals
To the other side
Where the enemy's dug in
Trenches full of men
With loaded guns and bayonets
My heart beating the drums
Of long ago
Calling up ghost to heed the call
The call to attack a river to cross
Brother against brother
Father against son such tragic loss
Cold chills up and down the spine
Battle cries consuming the mind
Echoes from the graves close by
Where developers desecrated
With greed in mind
No remorse or no respect
For those who fought and died
No matter the side
This hallowed sacred ground
A reminder that war is hell
Death the ultimate price to pay
For the blue and the gray

Christmas Glory
12/08/05

Have a Holy Merry Christmas
The best time of the year
Mistletoe and stockings hung
Santa will soon be here
Each child is wondering
What gifts he will bring
A new doll for Sara
And one for Billie Jean
James wants a new bike
Or a model train
I've asked for snow
And to hear sleigh bells ring
Peace joy and happiness
Through out the universe
Food for the hungry
Drink for those who thirst
Warm rest for the cold
May they rest in peace
Time honored traditions
May they always be
Merry Christmas to all
Peace

Sexual Pressure
03/27/06

Evil has but one path
It's existence depends
On the heart of man
Only in consciousness
Can we overcome
The evil that lives
In each of us

Life's temptations
Are so profound
Sex it seems
Is all that sells
Flaunted in our faces
Day by day
Children's morality
Is lost that way

Very hard for them to understand
Right from wrong
If woman and man
Constantly display
Their sexual desires
Without consciously
Protecting the child

Children are curious
It's natures way
Conscious of their body
At a young age

This being
In constancy as such
Constancy being the quality
Of being constant and unchanging
Couldn't we reverse

The trend we now see
By controlling our own sexuality
Not displaying it as lust
But by showing our children
The value of love

That sex is beautiful
When it is concealed
And that it is ugly
When it is revealed

Not a subject to be displayed
But an object of affection
Secretly conveyed

I Never Knew Hate
07/28/06

Not always been
A peaceful man
I thought I knew hate
But then

It happened one day
Sept. eleventh
As matter of fact
Me and hate
Became acquainted

Now I'm not going
To sit here and pretend
That I didn't embrace hate
Before then

"But I only thought"
I knew hate
We weren't friends
Like we are now

Holding each other
Tight at night
Dreaming I caught you
Before the flights

No fame or glory
Would be mine
Just that I saved
Innocent lives

Brought you to justice
Where you belong
Then know hate
I'd have to know

With sobs of sorrow
For my fellow man
I've learned to use hate
As a friend

A constant reminder
Of that September
Hate has taught me
To always remember

Fairytale 2020 A.D.
01/06/07

Once upon a time where freedom reigned
Life was grand and full of hope
Made in America meant one thing, great stuff
Made to last from American hands

Skilled craftsman full of pride
Weren't in a hurry they took their time
Their product had to reflect American made
On that they would stake their name

Employers treated them with respect
The American dream was theirs to have
Opportunity and freedom was all the rage
The world wanted American made

But as time would have it greed kicked in
Politicians were bought and traded
To the highest bidder they sold their soul
Like animals in an auction pen

Little by little they sold out their land
Giving into greed and money in hand
Leaving others to pay the price
Enjoying their wealth to others demise

Jobs were lost to cheaper labor
Products became throw away
And buy another

The dream was now lost to corporate greed
A pill for every ill now the planted seed
Skills of long ago no longer needed
A way of life now deleted

In the years to come after the great fall
Children could only listen as others talked
The ones who remembered the great land
Could only tell stories of how it was then

Fairytale is what the children believed
They never got to see these great things
Their days spent searching for scraps
And dreaming someday maybe perhaps

America would once again rise in her glory
And their children would never hear the story
Of how America was destroyed from within
By crooked politicians and evil greedy men

Old Me
02/01/07

I like the old ways
Antiques from the past
When things of quality
Were built to last

Not the trinkets
Made today
Used one time
Then thrown away

The past ages
Sought the truth
Trusting in themselves
Like we should do

They were not like moths
Throwing themselves into flames
Destroying themselves
In profit's name

An ounce of prevention
Worth more than gold
Nothing will replace
The ways of old

Waste not want not
Our ancestors knew
To not be prepared
Is to be a fool

Technology is not the answer
To the world's ills
It has many uses
But is destroying our skills

Our hands have become idle
The devil's workshop no less
Parent's replaced by computers
And we call it progress

Call me old fashioned
I prefer old school
When a man's worth
Wasn't measured in gold

The Yard Sale
04/04/07

By the side of the road
A yard sale sign
Baby clothes
Never worn

Baby shoes
Never used
Cradle and teddy bear
Blankets pink and blue

Still wrapped in plastic
All items half price
Mother and baby
Departed this life

Maternity clothes
All for sale
Two for one
Father gone mad

Afraid to live
He's given up hope
His days spent
Playing Russian Roulette

Nursing bottles
Of old Irish Rose
He curses God
Says it's his fault

I curse your name
You can hear him scream
Then in the next second
He plays the game

Hoping this time
It will be done
He puts the pistol
To his skull

His knees are shaking
The trigger is pulled
A shot rings out
Then silence is heard

The Sound Of Silence
04/04/07

Alone in the woods
A girl and me
Running and laughing
Playing Adam and Eve

A place in memory
I'll never forget
Lying around naked
Life was great

To young to care
Or to think we should
We laughed and played
In an acre of woods

Hidden from
The rest of the world
I lay and slumbered
With a brown eyed girl

Birds were singing
Laughing it seemed
I loved her
She loved me

I visit there often
I smile and frown
With her memory
I dance around

I curse reality
For her death
Then before I leave
Silence abounds

It may be fantasy
But it's what I hear
When the birds grow silent
Her presence is real

Predators And Prey
08/03/07

Children on line chatting
With whom they do not know
Older dirty men
Lurking in the shadows

Young girls intrigued
By the older man
Taking chances that
Are hard to understand

The world on line
Let's them in their home
Predators preying
On children all alone

Many have fell victim
To their evil plans
Children please listen
There are many dirty men

An evil world in which we live
Gives them time to prey
Be careful with information
Be cautious what you say

If you get the chance
Watch dateline NBC
And maybe it will shock you
As much as it did me

Preachers teachers cops and more
Deacons of a church
All were caught on tape
Seeking sex with young girls

I hope this helps you
Especially the young at age
The internet is full
Of predators and prey

Self Unemployed
09/03/07

What will you say if I brag
As an electrician I'm one of the best
With that said I'm self employed
Have been for years
Self un-employed to my peers
Why don't you get a real job they'll ask
With your talent the money's the best
They don't think I work hard enough
Should I give my buisness up
Put others out of work
Who need this job
Why from me and them would I rob
No I'll stay where I'm at
And sarcasim want change that
I'm proud of what I've done
To punch a clock I think not
Why are so many with their advice
So eager to change my life
Try and tell me how to live
Without analyzing the advice they give
Why would I just up and quit
The very buisness that I built
From the ground to the top
Sorry my friend I want stop
For all these years I've enjoyed
Being self un-employed
Yes I used sarcasim to say that
But when sarcasim comes
Sometimes sarcasim bounces back
It's not like me to be that way
But when under the gun what do you say
When someone is trying to tear you down
You must stand tall and be proud
Let them know you love your life
That you know wrong from right
That just because it looks easy
Is no reason to be jealous, snotty, and chezzy
Yes I want lie the money is good
And I don't work as hard as I could
But that's just me the way I am
And it doesn't give them the right
To tear me down
