The Truth
09/14/04

The truth shall set you free
Said with such ease
But is that really how it is
Or is a white lie now and then
Easier to tell
Easier to sale
More believable than the truth itself
Sometimes it is
I've done you've done it
Since we were kids
We've heard it told it
Ourselves
We'll tell our kids not to lie
Then don't follow our own advice
It's like a small fib now and then
Is alright
Shame on you shame on me
The truth will set you free
Solving problems before they root
The Truth

In Our Time
10/04/04

From the cradle to the grave
One step closer each step we take
To avoid that banana peel
That one slip that could kill
In it's many many forms
Death starts watching
The day were born
In the wings silently there
Without a worry without a care
Listening watching to see
If it'll be hard
Or easy
Choices not all our own
Make the wait short
Or help it along
In our time here on earth
Choices made since our birth
How to add
How to subtract
Loose a few years for a cigarette
Add some back if you quit
Not as many as you did
Have before your loss
Bad habits cost
Eating away at time
Making smoking like a crime
Poisoning our bodys
Shortening our days
Taking us closer to the grave
To spread the distance
From the grave
Many better choices made
Take a walk with a child
Ride a bike for a while
Go for a swim join a gym
Make love go for a run
It's our body it's our mind
It's up to us
In our time

Back To Nature
10/21/04

I live for many things
Birds and bees
Clear mountain springs
Tadpoles and lizards
Warm spring days
Cold winter blizzards
Fascinate me
Naturally
As one with nature it's so cool
God's creation the greatest tool
Back in time my mind
Finds that I
Was so care free
Nakedness didn't bother me
On a creek bank with a friend
Where on bare behinds
We would decent
Into the creek below
Muddy as little pigs
In a wallow
Splashing about until clean
Just to do it again
Our skinny dipping a secret our own
Her sweet name I've never told
Mind you I never will
A promise I keep still
Buried deep in memory
A beautiful brown eyed girl and me
Alone in the woods on a stroll
Talking of a future all our own
Birds singing magical songs
Songs of love
Bringing out touch
In such a way that we
Were spontaneous and free
Without a care or feeling of sin
To do it all over (yes again)
A time to cherish through all of life
Memories that last until I die
Memories that are true and sure
Take me back to nature

We Learn
11/14/04

We learn there is always two sides
No matter how it is sliced
We learn a hero doesn't have to die
A hero does what needs done
As it needs done
We learn that two people cannot
See the same thing
And not have differing opinions
We shouldn't have to learn love
But learn to be someone
Who can embrace love
Someone who can love and be loved
We learn it takes time to build trust
But only moments to destroy it
We learn first to be honest with ourselves
Then to be honest with others as well
We learn to be politically correct
But still stand up
For what we believe is best
We learn that
We must forgive ourselves
Then we must forgive others as well
We learn even the best friend
Can let us down
We learn it's the individual
That really counts
We learn that in times of war
We can find peace
We learn if we want much more
Than what we really need
Constitutes a kind of greed
From the moment we are born
We adapt we overcome we change
As the world turns
We Learn

A Holiday
12/04/04

Have you noticed
what's being taught to say
Don't call it Christmas
call it a holiday
Take the Christmas word out
as not to offend
I'm sorry sir
to me that's a sin
I'll be politically correct
to a certain extent
But to remove Christmas
I'll not bend
I'll stand strong
and I'll defend
The very word
and what it represents
I'm not talking about
the commercialized part
Where presents are wrapped
then torn apart
No I'm more concerned
about the birth
And what it means
to us on earth
How the star
of Bethlehem shone
Where have all
the wise men gone
Is there still
compassion among men
Where did it go
and when
Even if you happen
to not agree
You don't deny others
of their belief
We can't all agree
on what's right to say
But there are millions
like me
who have the faith
And who will never call Christmas
just a holiday

Merry Christmas!

Our Word
12/21/04

No signed document
can hold the word
There's lots of integrity
in it's worth
It's what separates
some from the rest
By keeping our word
Were doing our best
The building of trust
starts this way
Keeping your word
what ever you say
Meaning what you say
Saying what you mean
Just being a considerate
human being
Placing other's feelings
right up there with your own
Your word can make weak
what is strong
A trust a bond
a friendship of sort
Can easily be crushed
if other's learn
We have no worth
when it comes to keeping
Our Word

One Person Can
12/21/04

How does one change the many
the right kind of way
Just by initiating
the right kind of change
It's starts with you
in your surroundings
Making the world better
that's about 'ya
In your little corner
of our great planet
You start something good
then you fan it
Grow it into
a blazing fire of hope
Try and make peace
where ever you go
Talk to your neighbors
learn their name
Show them you'll help
if needed someday
Give a little trust
and grow your return
That's the only way
you'll ever learn
Other's around
are willing too
If you show them trust
Then maybe
they'll trust you
All of the trust
that has been lost
Has come at a much
to high a cost
We can't keep being
all suspect
It is now time
to take freedom back
The loved ones lost
on that evil day
We owe the honor
to be this way
Why are we letting
terrorist win
By not being who
we were back then
Just not as complaisant
as we once were
We know there's evil
here on earth
It always has been
this we know
Just cut off it's roots
before it grows
That's where you and I come in
We start a cycle
of trust again
It begins with one
then there's ten
How many more
is anyone's guess
Growing trust
making new friends
Getting it started
One person can

Humble Pie
01/03/05

It's not pumpkin
blueberry or cherry
Seldom as sweet
a strawberry
Even when
it makes you choke
You find a ray of hope
So we try
to take in stride
And learn to savor
our humble pie
When you learn
to humble yourself
It's usually for
someone else
That's why
you choose to chew
not just appease
You eat for peace
For yourself
and another fellow
Humble pie
will make you clever
It teaches that
your not always right
also others
Eat humble pie
By our families
friends and neighbors
It's served up
in all the flavors
Who knows what
the next humbling will be
To much to bare
an illness a blessing
A death a birth
may be
No reason or why
not hard to find
Humble Pie

In A Secular Society
01/06/05

Of or pertaining to worldly things
Or to things not regarded as sacred
The one definition of secular
Not concerned with religion
opposed to sacred
Not belonging to a religious order
A secular society
Secularism a system of political
philosophy that rejects all forms
of religious faith and worship
Religion becomes only gossip
Looked upon as just being ignorant
Or misplaced in society
To be secularized
Separated from religious connections
or influences made worldly
To transfer what's ecclesiastical
to civil possession or use
Is this where were headed
No God allowed no worship
Secularized by choice of course
You cannot contain God you may try
But God's will be done
You can say no religion no not none
You can secularize
Your daughters and your sons
Teach them there is no God
Watch the world be destroyed
by fire
The fire of hate and unforgiveness
The fire that burns in us
Put out by lack of hope and love
Compassion dead from lust
Eating away at rotting souls
Lost in the abyss of long ago
No future to behold religion gone
Children seeking answers
To the unknown
Where are we from
Is there a soul
They'll want to know
Why do you have a bible
But keep it closed
Why's it covered with dust
Is it something fragile and old
If I touch it will I die
In a secular society
There will be allot of questions
With answers that have
No reason or why

For those who didn't know the meaning of Secular,
I looked it up for you.

Loss Or Gain
01/18/05

To compare what's been lost
with what's been gained
Is to ask what's been missed
with what was attained
If defeat is victory in disguise
And life is but an empty dream
Where is the room for pride
In the days idly spent
Thinking about our good intent
We've wasted time
Let enjoyment turn to sorrow
Just to face it again tomorrow
Let us then be up and doing
Keep achieving and pursuing
Heart in a God overhead
Letting the past bury it's dead
Like footprints in the sand of time
We can live our lives sublime
Elevated impressing the mind
With a sense of grandeur and power
inspiringly in awe
Things are not always
what they seem
And life is not an empty dream
Time is fleeting
while hearts are beating
Beating to the tone of any fate
Beating to learn and to wait
While angels gather their wings
with interest in our fate
Like the flower needing the sun to grow
A dream never ending is your soul
With all this said it's still the same
In all our lives it's either
Loss or gain
