The Search
03/25/04

Of all the things on this earth
What is the most important thing we search
Is the search for fortune and fame
Do we want everyone to know our name
Is unconditional love our goal
Will we ever really know
What it is that we want the most
We find the things that we think we need
Then find fantasy is opposite reality
Once the possesion is in our hand
Possession teaches it's no better than
Not even having it at all
It is no where near worth the cost
That it took to possess it after all
We seem to always be on the search
For all the possessions on this earth
A shiny ring sparkling gold
Diamonds are forever I'm told
Strings of pearls around our neck
One big lottery check
Will heal our ills
Bring us lots of joy and thrills
At least it is a nice fantasy
And people do win the lottery
Even though the odds are thin
Every so often someone will win
It's a life changing thing to most
To buy anything no matter the cost
But does it really heal the soul
And make the winner feel whole
Will it change their heart
I know they have a new start
Finacially that is
But is their heart free to give
Or will it turn to greed
Even though they have no need
For anymore personal gain
Will this person still be the same
The wealth can come and the wealth can go
But no amount of money should buy your soul
It's already been paid for in blood
So the search should be
For peace and love
Not just for possessions of this earth
Should be the search

Mother's Milk
04/09/04

Smoother than any woven silk
Satisfying hunger like no other
Mother's Milk
As natural as the setting sun
Mother feeding her new born
Showing us nurturing at it's finest
A new mother feeding the tinest
Little baby I ever saw
Gave me this feeling of awe
What a gift a woman has
To create a life and then that
Little child can suckle it's mother
Creating a bond like no other
Feeding until it falls fast asleep
A mother's love is so deep
She can create a living soul
Mother's are the greatest of us all
The strongest man in the land
Will run to mother to hold his hand
When he is feeling alone and hurt
He finds comfort in mama's skirt
We as men think we are the strong
But in reality we are so wrong
Women out rank us ten to one
How can we compete with what they've done
The pain they bare when giving birth
Is like no other on this earth
If it were up to men to bare this task
There would be no children for life to last
Not saying that men can't do their share
But there's allot of pain men can't bare
The best we can do is to make fine silk
And thank God above
For sweet nurturing Mother's Milk

To all mothers and mothers to be,
thanks for the love of a mother's touch.

The Future
04/24/04

Yesterday has faded into the past
The future is ours as long as it last
The one certain thing ahead
One day a eulogy to be read
Will be mine and I hate to say your's
But of course
What else can I say
We are all going to die someday
But death is not what I want to talk about
It's living now
It's knowing that there's a better road
For us to follow as we go
Into the future the past left behind
Only memories in our mind
Yes our hearts have memories too
Of lost loves and what was cruel
The hardest things to forget
Yet
Let only good thoughts adhere when
You visit the past now and then
We must make clear in our brain
In the future there is always change
No two days are the same
For this were a party to the blame
Especially when we refuse to change
Our bad habits that bring us down
The things that make us frown
There's good and bad in every soul
It's up to us which will grow
I know for myself I'll keep trying
To grow good before my dying
Even though bad is never far away
It keeps it's distance when I pray
The greatest tool I have
To fertilize good and beat the bad
For this faith in prayer I was saved
For a future beyond the grave
A day to come like a thief in the night
When my new wings will take their flight
To soar as an Eagle does
With only a feeling of peace and love
Healing beyond any doctor's suture
A eulogy for the future

The Passion In Us All
05/10/04

No greater love does a man have
Than to lay down his life for a friend
Then let it be written let it be said
The soul's passion was in thee
Where do we receive this great love
In all the things inherent there of
Is it a gift or human nature at work
So when do we realize it's there
Seems to come from thin air
You may not even be feeling compassionate
When all of a sudden a word a jester
Will make eyes water tears to flow
The heart to grow
It's the passion of the soul
Passion for love, for caring, or sharing
For teaching, preaching, parenting
Making love, and all the above
Where does it come from
Deep inside a living soul
Is the only answer I know
I've heard it confessed by cold killers
From addicts and drug dealers
Even in their darkest hours
Their passion bloomed like flowers
The coldest heart can be humbled
When word of family is mumbled
This flower planted in our chest
Can only be described best
From the bloom we wear outside
That portrays the passion and desire
We have for all living things
And all the passion that it brings
From our greatest heights
To our hardest fall
The passion in us all

A Man's Best Friend
05/26/04

Found my dog dying today
poisoned the vet. would say
A victim of a hanious crime
Committed by a disturbed mind
I was assured justice will prevail
Of course the system could let me down
A dog is man's best friend
I know this to no end
Just petting a dog
Lowers blood pressure they've found
A family member was my hound
I'm really missing him right now
To put him to sleep I had no choice
My eyes are more than a little moist
Never to hear his bark again
Brings me heartache that want end
Goodbye to you my dear friend
Losing you is tearing me apart
I can't believe how it's broke my heart
I try to be strong and not show hate
But now I'm standing at the gate
The gate of taking into my own hands
The justice this crime demands
Sounds like a vigilante I know
But in my heart this sorrow grows
His life cannot be lost in vain
Sure as Scooby was his name
In his memory I make this vow
On tear stained paper now
Justice for Scooby Hound
To me this loss is so great
It has tested my faith
While still needing to be strong
With my faithful friend lost and gone
So I best pray for forgiveness and understanding
For my God knows I will not abandon
All the things he's done for me
So I'm sure he'll send a new puppy
For me to love again
A Man's Best Friend

Frozen Tears
06/10/05

A young boy walking in the freezing cold
On his cheeks tears that had froze
A police officer on routine patrol
Saw this young boy walking alone
Son where are you going aren't you cold
Yes sir I am but my parents told me to go
They told me to leave and never come back
Show me your home son where's it at
Upon arrival to the policeman's surprise
A young girl standing outside
Barely dressed with no shoes on her feet
And frozen tears on her cheeks
Knocking on the door to see who was home
Here comes their mother with no clothes on
The officer asked her to please get dressed
As he tried to be calm he did his best
All she wanted was another child to molest
Her lustful heart enjoyed incest
An investigation pursued until they found the tape
Of the young girl and the footage of rape
Hiding in the attic like a bat
Another molester hiding from fact
It was her stepfather trying to get away
So he could molest another some day
The story continues here come more tears
Her biological father now serving 25 years
For raping her when she was very young
It's not enough time for what he has done
For this kind of child abuse
Get a short piece of rope and tie a noose
Then find a good strong limb
I promise you no more abuse from him
When a child is abused from the day their born
They don't know the difference it becomes the norm
This abuse happened just down the street
Each time I hear it I'm enraged but weak
Weakened to the cold hard fact
That innocence lost is hard to get back
I look at the children that I hold so dear
Then the image of frozen tears
Comes crippling my heart and soul
As I remove my shoes and head out into the cold
To honor this girl only twelve years old
I look to the heavens trying to deny my fears
But it's so hard to see
Through frozen tears

Common Ground
06/23/04

The most ridiculous thing of all
Is how we seek other's fall
Never looking for what is neutral
Or the things that are crucial
Seeing only what we want to see
Instead of letting be
Those things that separate
Leading to mistrust and hate
Not letting us communicate
With each other in such a way
Just a smile on our face
Saying have a nice day
Go in peace on your journey
Just simple things for our learning
As we make our way around
Finding the most common ground
Between each living soul
These things common to us all
When cut we all bleed red
When hungry we all need fed
If tired we'll need rest
From east to west
North to south
There's common ground all around
Seek it out it can be found
The color of skin is only color
We are all sister and brother
If your black and I'm white
Is that a reason to fight
If I believe in God and you don't
Should I not believe if you want
Or vice versa either way
We have the right to say
What we feel and believe
And still live in peace
It's our common ground again
As were only human beings
Subject to mistakes and false deeds
Hearts full of love some full of greeds
Evil in some peace in others
Yet were still sisters and brothers
Going back to the dust from which we came
Marked by stone bearing our name
Underneath it all can be found
Common Ground

Another Angel Yesterday
07/09/04

Yesterday... pearly gate opened wide
Another Angel flew inside
Here on earth... tears on our face
Staring into... an open grave
Hearts and souls broke into
When heaven wanted you
Were greedy... here on earth
Have been... since your birth
We still... need you here
In life... you were so dear
A kind heart... and caring soul
We sure do hate... to see you go
To not miss you... would be a sin
Even when... we see you again
(up in heaven someday)
We still grieve... from yesterday
From the cradle... to the grave
Your sweet memory... we will save
God's mercy... will heal the pain
A grey tombstone... with your name
Tells the date... of your demise
A grim reminder... for our eyes
Each time we visit... your resting place
Tears will trickle... down our face
Cancer came... and took away
Another Angel Yesterday

Dedicated to all the victims of Cancer.

From Our Tomorrow
07/29/04

Yesterday is the tomorrow
On the day before that
Then tomorrow is sure to pass
Without anymore being done then
Than was done when
Yesterday was tomorrow
The day before that

If put off until tomorrow
What needs done today
Then tomorrow's needs
Will get in the way
Of what wasn't done
Yesterday
Causing today's needs
To be put off until tomorrow
Adding grief and more sorrow

Simple task that are not done
Add up to more than some
Can do in any given day
When tomorrow becomes
The day after yesterday
With it's task adding to the till
Becoming more than our will
Is able to over come
By adding yesterday's total
To the over all sum

But life in general has away
Of making us all
Put off until tomorrow
What needs done today
It's never going to change
No matter how hard we try
To do it all today
The if's and's but's how's and why
Always get in the way
Leaving us to always borrow
From Our Tomorrow

Your Lips My Sugar
08/12/04

Your forty nine and I still call you baby
Maybe it's because your one fine lady
Or is it because your my bride
Filling me up with over zealous pride
Either way it's still those lips
That sweet sugar doesn't spread hips
Like the store bought does
No this sugar only comes in love
Runs off the mouth like sweet cream
Fills the head and heart with a dream
Want rot teeth
But knocks me off my feet
Tastes like it was made in heaven
That's why all my love I've been saving
To spend it all on you
For every sweet delicious thing you do
Like those kisses in the dark
Sweet sugar melts my heart
Brings me down to my knees
Begging sweet sugar please
Please give me one more taste
For it's now love we must make
Until the early hours before dawn
Your sweet sugar keeps me going on
On and on like the energizer rabbit
Just one more sweet habit
That gets sweeter everyday
Sweeter and sweeter in everyway
If I could package it for sale
The sweetest sugar on the shelf
I'd be the richest man around
But I'm greedy with my sweet
So no sale it's all for me
I could never share with another
Your lips my sugar
