Just Learning To Live
09/30/07

Hind sight being twenty-twenty
Clearly leaving visions of the past
Without any ifs ands or buts
There's only the reality of mistakes

Pitted against one another
Were pitted against ourselves
It's our self destructive nature
That leads us to fail

Time is not our enemy
Time is our best friend
Were not getting older
Just learning to live

Happiness Begins And Ends
10/18/07

Happiness is in the moment
It begins and it ends
It's a passing wonder
Comes and goes like the wind

The things that bring happiness
Are easily agreed
Sweet sounds and touches
Delightful lovely things

But regarded as merely pleasures
For satisfaction of your own
If grasped and possessed
Then suffering is bestowed

True happiness is not a possession
It's a cherished moment of time
Stored for future direction
In the archives of the mind

An Individual Thing
10/18/07

Unlike the infinity of space
Empty and calm
Devoid of self
It's the individual
That defines one's self

All beings of this world
Are beyond words
With beginnings and ends
And a middle course
Where reality exists

With only nature
Being pure and true
The individual
Must pick and choose
Between an illusion
Or the truth

Being and individual
No easy part
Living it true
Free of discrimination
Even harder to do

Conviction must be established
Discernment attained
Unobstructed loving kindness
An individual thing

I Salute You
04/09/08

Each time you march
I stand at attention
For all of you wounded
For all who have died
I salute you
For my freedom my pride
My overwhelming joy
Of just being alive
I salute you
Many of you have marched
On freedom's behalf
You serve your country
And make us proud
For this I salute you
A soldier myself
I know how it is
The orders flow down
From those in command
No matter their decision
Bad or not
You have your mission
Even if lives are lost
I salute you
For your sacrifice
War is hell
With too high a price
And there's no shortage of enemy
The world wide
Since the beginning
It's been a nasty business
To kill maim and fight
Hard to distinguish
From wrong and right
In any war
The innocent die
Along with the brave
The proud and the few
Thank you so much
I love and respect all of you
God speed and God bless
Our boots on the ground
America's Best
For God Country and Freedom's call
I salute you I salute you all

Just Love Me
06/15/08

A lucky man I know I am
A loving wife who understands
That only ask for one thing
Just love me
Nothing less

I need your affection
You loving man
Nothing more nothing less

All men should be this way
All men should easily say
I love you dear
Even more
Than I did
The day before

With my proposal for her hand
I ask
What do you expect
I want the truth
Nothing more nothing less

She searched the ceiling
Then the floor
Just love me dear
Nothing more

Not a mansion on the hill
Diamonds or gold
Riches or gems
Just love me dear

Lead and protect me from this world
Be my guide for all of life
Father our boys and our girls
Just love us is all I ask
Be my husband and their dad

A lucky man I know I am
A loving wife
And four kids
I love them
That's all they ask
